Donate to Equality Cape May

Equality Cape May is a grassroots organization on a mission to build and strengthen Cape May County's LGBTQIA2S+ community and promote welcoming attitudes and equality through civic and social action, advocacy, and community connection. They kicked off Pride Month with a fundraiser for the 2024 LGBTQIA+ Youth Scholarship Initiative. Check their Facebook page for other upcoming safe and inclusive community meetups and events. Simple Alchemy

This small business duo makes zero-waste lip balm, deodorant and lotion for Good Deeds Market. These great plastic-free and all-natural products are made by Col and Bee, a couple who lives in an 800 square foot cabin in the woods in Oregon.

Col has sensitive skin herself and was inspired to learn the science behind making products that are good for both the environment and your skin. One of her favorite products is the eco-friendly lip balm, made with all natural coconut oils, castor, sunflower and apricot kernels, shea butter and more. You can buy the Peppermint or Original natural lip balm for $12, online or in-store.

Here at Good Deeds, we’re a big fan of the unscented solid lotion. Made from a mix of organic oils, this smooth lotion includes matcha powder, a natural ingredient to help protect you from the sun. You can buy it for $20, online or in-store.

The Bower Studio

This small artist’s collective is based in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Good Deeds Market is proud to carry their handmade and sustainable seed cards. The company was founded by Isa Wang (he/him) who identifies as trans, and Vincent Frano (he/they). They’ve grown to a team of nine since their 2011 founding and they continue to donate a whopping 10% of profits to ecological organizations!

Microcosm Publishing

Microcosm Publishing is an LGBTQ+ owned publishing house and distributor based out of Portland, Oregon. They equip readers to make positive changes in their lives and the world around them. Microcosm emphasizes skill-building, showing hidden histories, and fostering creativity through challenging conventional publishing wisdom with books and zines about DIY skills, food, bicycling, gender, self-care, and social justice. Microcosm focuses on relating the experiences of what it is like to be a marginalized person and strives to be recognized for spirit, creativity, and value. All books are printed in the U.S., and the company doubles the industry average in number of women authors and prioritizes hiring of special needs employees. Attend the Pride March

And if you want to gather with others this Pride month, join Equality Cape May on Thursday, June 22 at 5:45pm for their annual pride march. It’s a great time and I don’t want to miss it; I hope I’ll see you there. We’ll start at Cove Beach and walk to the convention center.
